Although designers continue to dream of "transparency" - technologies that just do their job without making their presence felt - both creators and audiences actually like technologies with "personality." A personality is something with which you can have a relationship. Which is why people return to pencils, violins, and the same three guitar chords.
With everything heading towards total personal configurabilty (clothes, music, instrument interfaces, amp skins, human skins), it has been argued that the one who stands out as truly individual will be the one who chooses not to modify her original factory default settings. Until then, please pass the soldering iron.

When cutting plastic, it might be wise to purchase the variable speed jig-saw. Else your blade goes so fast it causes the plastic to melt and re-bond to itself.

The loop can then be transformed by adjusting the course and fine tune. As they are increased, little bits of random sound trickle into the loop, until eventually it's just crackling noise. Sometimes the loops have hidden subrhythmic loops that can be uncovered to make an almost musical (gasp) arrangement of rhythmic bloops and squeaks.

He couldn't afford the Intel 8080 CPU (this CPU was very popular then, as it was used in the Altair 8800 & IMSAI 8080, but was pretty expensive). He would have used the Motorola 6800 but it was also much too expensive. Finally he decided to build his computer around the MOS 6502 (which was pretty compatible with the Motorola 6800).
